@strima I assume you upgraded the AP to 2.8.0? Don’t edit /etc/config/network directly, it will be overwritten. Configure the VLAN assignment from the UI. Only the LAN port connecting to the main router should be tagged. Other LAN ports should be untagged, but you can assign them to different VLANs.

@pinklock Did the router reboot after you release the button? Please send a video snippet to [email protected].

@pinklock Try resetting the router. After that, you should see the WiFi LEDs light up and see both the 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz WiFi SSIDs. You can restore your settings if you have a backup file at hand.

You’ll need to ssh into the router and edit the /etc/config/network-tmpl file. Add option vendorid to the WAN interface: option vendorid ‘VALUE_YOUR_ISP_EXPECT’.

If you’re not sure, send a copy of your backup file to [email protected]. We can make the change for you.

@strima Can you create a backup file from the AP router and send to [email protected]? We’ll need to take a look at it.

@strima Sorry, we missed your post previously. Do you still need help on this issue? What’s your firmware version?

You should be able to log in with a wired Ethernet connection, if your computer gets an IP address from the router. Can you see the IP address on your computer?

@bambina 1. Did you mean you don’t see the Cloud icon?

The router will try to restart the WAN interface when an IP address cannot be obtained from your ISP. That’s why you’re seeing the WAN down and up cycles. You might want to clone the MAC address from your PC to the “Override MAC address” field. See if that helps.

Cable modems tend to remember the MAC address of the last connected device and refuse to connect when a new MAC address is seen. If you configured the pcWRT router to use random MAC address for Internet, the router may lose Internet connection when it reboots.

The router does not prohibit the character ‘ or ! from being used in WiFi passwords. But thanks for the suggestion of showing DHCP ranges for VLANs. We’ll add that in a future release.

@trust_in_wrt Sorry we missed your post. Do you still have the problem? Is your modem a cable modem?

Unchecking the diagonal box prohibits communication between devices connected to the same VLAN (e.g. Guest). It turns on Wireless Client Isolation for WiFi and blocks communication to/from devices connected the VLAN via Ethernet.

On the other hand, VLAN separation could block communication across VLANs but give you the option to allow communication between devices on the same VLAN.

On the pcWRT router, VLAN assignments are by port number and WiFi SSID. Under most circumstances there’s no need to tag a port.

You don’t want to tag a port unless the incoming packets on that port carries a VLAN ID. And that would be the case when the port is connected to another router that sends tagged packets.

@moonrace Versions 2.7.7 through 2.8.0 are safe. But since 2.8.0 supersedes 2.7.7+, the 2.7.7+ versions are no longer needed (i.e., 2.8.0 is more stable).
